Sex Toys Advice

With the choice of vibrators only getting bigger, it can sometimes be very difficult, and a little daunting to choose which should be your first.  Just like looking for the perfect man, your first vibrator requires a little bit of research before taking the plunge.  No two women are the same either, so what might have worked brilliantly for your best friend may not be suitable for you!

Here are a few points to consider before purchasing your first vibrator

1. What do you aim to use it for?

This may sound very obvious, but it may well help you decide:

  • Vaginal stimulation? Phallic shaped vibrators or dildos are great for vaginal stimulation, if you’re not bothered about vibration then going with a glass dildo, or realistic skin dildo may be a better option!  If, however you’re looking for penetration and that buzzing feeling then going with a rabbit vibrator, or even a thrusting vibrator is a safe bet.   If you’re going for the g-spot, then there are also plenty of g-spot vibrators geared specifically for that purpose.
  • Clitoral stimulation? If you’re not bothered about penetration then it’s worth looking at mini vibrators which are extremely handy and discreet!  Of course pretty much any vibrator can be used on your clitoris if the vibration is strong at the tip.  I advise against using your toothbrush!
  • Anal stimulation? It’s safest to purchase anal sex toys that have a wide base, so that your new toy doesn’t slip all the way in!
  • A combination of the above? If you want a vibrator that works all angles, such as anal and vaginal or clitoral and vaginal, then rabbit vibrators or double entry vibrators are perfect!

2. What’s your budget?

If price is no option then I’d recommend going with a medical grade silicone based vibrator or our luxurious range.  Price is dependant on a number of factors inlcuding how much the vibrator actually does, for example the more expensive vibrators will have many more vibrations patterns and options.  If you don’t need or the ‘bells and whistles’ there are plenty of vibrators that have fewer options and are perfectly effective.  Our budget vibrator range may also interest you.

3. Vibration strength

Vibrators vary greatly in power.  It’s worth noting if you’re very sensitive, it’s best to go with a less powerul vibrator.  Of course if you’re not sure then you’ll have to experiment!  Most vibrators will come with a vibration control and the least powerful have fewer batteries, whilst the most powerful are the eletric plug-in vibrators.  Just because it’s small it doesn’t mean it isn’t powerful however – the power bullet or wideboy are both powerful but small vibrators.

4. When size matters

You’ll probably know exactly when you’re likely to use your vibrator; if you want one that’s subtle and discreet then going with a smaller mini vibrator or discreet vibrator is your best option.   If however you’re not bothered about discretion or prefer a larger sex toy there are plenty of large vibrators to choose from!

5. Look and feel

Most vibrators will either be smooth or ribbed in some way.  Many feel like skin using cyberskin technology (realistic skin vibrators), and some are even modelled on a real penis.  It’s probably worth experimenting with which turns you on the most and feels the best to you.

Hopefully once you’ve done the research and taken into consideration the above you’ll be ready to purchase a brand new vibrator!  Good luck!
